David started Judo in 1985 at Washington University in St. Louis. At the school David ran the schools judo club for 2 years and organized 2 university sponsored judo tournaments. In the summer of 1985 David joined Kirkwood judo club, training under then head instructor Tom Kuni. In 1990 David moved to Cincinnati Ohio ware he trained under Frank Herzog and Mr. Fields. David came back to st. Louis in 1993 to take his first degree black belt test under Tom Kuni. In cincinnati David started teaching both youth and adult classes. David in 1996 received his second degree black belt taking his test In front of the Ohio state promotion board. In 1997 david started a judo club at a local YMCA in cincinnati; today that club is still going strong. Inn 2000 David moved back to St. Louis and again trained at KJC under Tom Kuni. In 2008 David received his third degree black belt.

From 1985 to 1995 David competed in many local and regional tournaments. Since then David has still competed but less often. He was also selected to be a member of the Ohio state judo teem competing in several regional teem competitions. In 1999 David competed in the world masters taking third. The last major tournament David competed in was the 2009 world masters. Through out David’s over 25 years in judo he has been very active in going to and holding clinics and demos.
